A Joint Event by the Mississippi Municipal League and the Mississippi Urban Forest Council

More and more communities are embracing urban and community forests as a valuable part of their community. This seminar will teach you how to develop effective tree ordinances and landscape codes. You will also learn how to measure the benefits of trees, inventory these benefits and develop management plans to increase benefits. This seminar will feature the latest information, technical tools and trends in community forestry, the most critical element of green infrastructure. Learn how to ensure developing the best community possible for future generations.
MML will give 2 CEU for elected officials.

Featured Presenters

Buck Abbey has taught at LSU since 1974 in the Reich School of Landscape Architecture. He is a registered landscape architect and licensed landscape horticulturist. He researches community green laws, also called tree and landscape ordinances, land development regulations from across the country. He writes regularly as associate editor of /Landscape Architect and Specifer New Magazine and has authored numerous books on the subject/.

Donna Yowell is the executive director for the MS Urban Forest Council. She has worked for over 30 years in natural resource management and community development. She has served as an elected official, an urban forest advisor to the President and other natural resource agencies.
