Need Funding Advice? Here's Training!

Coastal Training ProgramGot a great community resilience project but you’re not sure how to pay for it? The Coastal Training Programs of the Grand Bay and Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserves have announced a series of workshops for decision-makers and grant-writers from coastal Mississippi and Alabama. As they describe the two classes:

FUNDING YOUR PROJECT

Are you looking for a way to fund your Community Resiliency, Green Infrastructure, or Coastal Restoration Project? Navigating through all of the grant applications can be a frustrating and time consuming process—not to mention all the work that comes after you have won a grant! We are taking some of the stress out of the process by bringing the granting agencies to you. During the Grant Fair you will be able to discuss current calls for grant proposals and ask questions about the application process. During expert presentations and information sharing sessions you will learn about the grant scoping and management process. Also, for those of you who do not have an on-staff grant writer, local grant-writing consultants will be on hand for you to connect with. This workshop is offered free of charge.

INSIDER TIPS FOR WRITING AND WINNING GRANTS

Okay, now you know which RFP you would like to respond to, but you still need some pointers on how to make your proposal stand out from the crowd. Send us your technical writer, staffer or consultant with their grant RFP in hand. Insider tips for writing and winning grants will be shared, secrets from the grant evaluation process will be revealed, and a grant proposal will be roughed out. This workshop is limited to 30 participants. The workshop fee is $45.00 per person and includes all course materials and lunch.

Each class will be offered twice (once in each state), the dates for workshop 1 are October 21 in Biloxi, and November 4 in Spanish Fort. Workshop 2: November 3 in Moss Point, and November 16 in Fairhope. You can find more details on their website. We’ve also added these (and other events) to the StormSmart Coasts Calendar.
